Jerry Burchfield
Professor and Gallery Director, Cypress College, Cypress, CA. Artist, curator, writer, and co-founder Laguna Wilderness Press and BC Space Gallery. Exhibited and published widely through the United States and abroad, Burchfield coordinated the initial documentation of MCAS El Toro by advanced photography students. Burchfield’s latest books are Primal Images: 100 Lumen Prints of Amazonia Flora and Understory: Lumen Prints of Florida Flora.
Mark Chamberlain
Director, BC Space Gallery, Laguna Beach, CA; adjunct faculty, Cypress College. Artist, curator, writer; works have been exhibited and published throughout the United States and abroad, and held in museum, corporate and individual collections. Projects include the Laguna Canyon Project, the Future Fossils and Looking for 2000 series.
Jacques Garnier
Artist, lecturer and photographer whose studies of abandoned and disappearing spaces, both psychological and environmental, have led to extensive exhibitions and publications throughout the U.S. and Europe. Most recent publications include The Edge of Air with The Legacy Project and On the Beach, published by The Southeast Museum of Photography (with Douglas McCulloh).
Rob Johnson
Photographer, musician, printmaker, and educator. He is a Professor of Art and Photography Department Chair at Cypress College. He introduced digital imaging into the photography curriculum and currently teaches this technology and its relationship to all areas in the larger field of photography. His personal images are largely landscape-based and explore how reality is perceived and sometimes altered through photography. His work has been widely exhibited at galleries and universities throughout the country, including: Los Angeles Center for Photographic Studies, Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, The Friends of Photography, Susan Spiritus Gallery, BC Space Gallery, Irvine Fine Arts Center, Laguna Art Museum.
Douglas McCulloh
Artist, writer, and curator whose work has been extensively exhibited in the U.S., Europe, Mexico, and China. Large-scale projects include Chance Encounters (published by California Museum of Photography); On the Beach, with Jacques Garnier (published by the Southeast Museum of Photography); Dream Street (published by Heyday Books); 20,000 Portraits, databased digital portraits; and 60,000 Photographs in Hollywood. He is a four-time recipient of project support from the California Council for the Humanities and has curated 15 exhibitions of photography, including three for the California Museum of Photography.
Clayton Spada
Artist, curator, writer, as well as photography/multimedia educator for 18 years. His work has been exhibited in Britain, Canada, Europe, the People’s Republic of China and the United States, and published in photography annuals, periodicals and textbooks, and are held in several institutional collections, including Culver Center of the Arts/UCR/ArtsBlock, Riverside, California; Digital Media Studio, University of California, Riverside/California Museum of Photography (UCR/CMP); Doheny Libraries Special Collections, University of Southern California; Fisher Museum of Art, University of Southern California; Griffin Museum, Harvard University; Guggenheim Gallery, Chapman University, Orange, California; Huan Tie Museum, Beijing, People’s Republic of China; Laguna Art Museum, Laguna Beach, California; Lehigh University Art Galleries, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
